Little Bluestem 'Standing Ovation' (Schizachyrium scoparium)

Overview: Little Bluestem 'Standing Ovation' (Schizachyrium scoparium 'Standing Ovation') is a grass with a tight, upright growth habit. The foliage begins as bluish-green in the spring, shifts to a rich, purplish-bronze in the summer, and then turns to a fiery orange-red in the fall. It typically grows to a height of 2-4’ tall with a spread of about 1-2’. It is highly drought-tolerant, thrives in full sun, and in a variety of soil types including rocky and sandy soils. Deer resistant. Pest and disease resistant. 

 

Care: Plant in well-drained soil in full sun. Propagate by dividing roots in the spring. In late winter, you can remove dead growth to promote new growth.
