Field Trips
Take a field trip with us!
We offer several on-site, hands on environmental options designed to kindle curiosity in your students.
Tracing the Birth of a River: We'll take students on a creek stomp through Fairmount Park to talk about the landscapes that nurture a river. Students will learn about watersheds, water cycles, bio-indicator species for water quality, and healthy water stewardship practices. (Grades 4-12, 2-3hrs, Fee $360, 30 participants maximum: Available Winter, Spring)
Kayak on the Schuylkill: Learn about the watershed by getting into it! We have a whole fleet of kayaks your students can use. We will also learn about watersheds, water cycles, water quality monitoring, and healthy water stewardship practices. We disembark from the Dragon Boat Dock on the west side of the Schuylkill River. (Grades 4-12, 2-3hrs, Fee $750, 30 participants maximum: Available Fall, Spring)
Native Plants and Native Pollinators: Visit one of Philly's only native plant nurseries and learn about specialized plant insect relationships and ecological restoration. (Grades 2-12, 2 hrs, Fee $360, 30 participants maximum: Available Fall, Spring)

Testimony
"Our summer day camp here at Cruz Recreation Center thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Dragon Dock this summer. For a majority of our campers it was their first experience in a paddleboat and even in the water! They were nervous at the beginning, but with the guidance of the LandHealth staff they settled in to enjoy the paddling. We hope to return next summer if given the opportunity to have new campers come and enjoy this great trip!"
