Pawpaw (Asimina triloba)

Overview:

Asimina triloba, or Pawpaw is a native small tree or large shrub that can grow up to 15'-40' tall. Maroon flowers bloom in early spring (April-May), and can be attractive to pollinators like flies and beetles. Large edible yellowish-green oblong fruits which mature to a darker brown in autumn. It tolerates with wet soil and black walnut.

 

Care:

Grow in average, medium to wet, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Pawpaws prefer moist, acidic, and organically rich fertile soils. The tree can grow leggy when grown in shade.
